In recent decades, phototherapy has become widespread in various fields of medicine. It has been empirically shown that this therapeutic technology has numerous positive effects, including relief of pain. At the same time, the focus of the problem is shifted towards neurodegenerative pathology and stimulation of cognitive recovery, while the possibilities of photobiomodulation in relieving pain syndromes of various origins are not fully disclosed.</p> <p>The purpose of the study is to estimate the feasibility of transcranial photobiomodulation in the algorithm of management of patients with post-traumatic cephalgia.</p> <p>Materials and methods. The preliminary, open-label, randomized, placebo-controlled trial included 2 groups of people with a pre-verified diagnosis of post-traumatic cephalgia. The first group (n=18) received standard treatment in combination with 10 phototherapy procedures for 10 minutes daily using a placebo device. The second group (n=17) received standard treatment supplemented with 10 full-fledged phototherapy procedures for 10 minutes daily. The effectiveness of the treatment was monitored according to the dynamics of clinical symptoms, as well as using standard psychophysiological tests: the short mental status Assessment Scale (MMSE), the SF-36 patient quality of life questionnaire, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), as well as the visual-analog scale of pain severity (VAS). Three control points were selected for monitoring: before the start of treatment, one week after the start of treatment, and two weeks after the start of treatment (after the end of phototherapy procedures).</p> <p>Results. Our studies have demonstrated that an analysis of the results of a single-center placebo-controlled trial performed on a limited sample showed the advantages of including photobiomodulation in a comprehensive management regimen for patients of the profile in question. It has been established that the use of this technology makes it possible to accelerate the rate of pain relief, improve the quality of life of patients and optimize their psychological status, including the elimination of aesthenic and depressive symptoms.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Обоснование. Установлено, что использование данной технологии позволяет ускорить темпы обезболивания, улучшить качество жизни пациентов и оптимизировать их психологический статус, включая устранение эстетических и депрессивных симптомов.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>фотобиомодуляция</kwd><kwd>посттравматическая цефалгия</kwd><kwd>болевой синдром</kwd><kwd>депрессия</kwd><kwd>качество жизни</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>photobiomodulation</kwd><kwd>posttraumatic cephalgia</kwd><kwd>pain syndrome</kwd><kwd>depression</kwd><kwd>life quality</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Abdulrashid, N.
