Lodgepole pine is a fast-growing and hardy coniferous tree species native to western North America. To comprehensively assess its adaptability to the conditions of the coniferous-broadleaf forest zone, as well as to evaluate its growth rate, stability, resource potential, and ecological impact, a study covering a wide age range is required.</p> <p>Purpose was to analyze the growth characteristics of lodgepole pine plantations under forest-growing conditions in the northeast of the Moscow region.</p> <p>Materials and methods. The study area is located in the Ogudnevsky district of the Moscow Educational and Exper<ext-link/><ext-link/><ext-link/>imental Forestry. The trees were planted in the first half of 1991 using three-year-old seedlings. In the first half of 2025, a survey was conducted on a 0.2-hectare plot within the plantation.</p> <p>Results. At a biological age of 37 years, lodgepole pine had an average height of 15.5 m and a timber stock of 95 m³/ha. In terms of growth rate, it was found to be slower than that of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). Mortality in the plantation followed a bottom-up pattern, with the highest number of healthy and weakened trees concentrated in the intermediate diameter classes. The weighted average sanitary condition category of lodgepole pine classified it as severely weakened. Despite active fruiting, no natural regeneration of lodgepole pine was observed.</p> <p>Conclusion. Based on these findings, lodgepole pine can be recommended for cultivation in forest plantations in the Moscow region for pulpwood production. However, to regulate species composition, improve sanitary conditions, and promote the growth of target tree species, timely silvicultural interventions are essential.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Обоснование. Для регулирования породного состава насаждений, улучшения санитарного состояния и создания благоприятных условий для роста целевой древесной породы важно проводить своевременные лесохозяйственные уходы.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>сосна скрученная</kwd><kwd>интродукция растений</kwd><kwd>лесные культуры</kwd><kwd>рост и производительность</kwd><kwd>Московская область</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>lodgepole pine</kwd><kwd>plant introduction</kwd><kwd>forest plantations</kwd><kwd>growth and yield</kwd><kwd>Moscow region</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">Alekseev, V.
